Dr. Mayo is now the Chief of Staff at our supporting hospital The Metropolitan Methodist Downtown.
Dr. Dawn George Mayo, M.D. has been in private practice in San Antonio since 1998. She practices routine and high risk obstetrics, routine well women and problem gynecology, urogynecology, family planning and infertility.
Dr. Mayo received her bachelors degree at Tulane University in New Orleans where she majored in Biological Chemistry and Classical History, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She then attended Tulane School of Medicine where she was invited to join AOA (Alpha Omega Alpha) Honor Society in her third year.
After graduating medical school Dr. Mayo joined the United States Army and completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC. She then spent four years stationed overseas in Wurzburg, Germany. After being deployed for nearly one year with Operation Joint Endeavor, Dr. Mayo returned to the US to serve as teaching faculty at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston. Dr. Mayo decided to make San Antonio her home after 9 ½ years of military service.
In July 2004, Dr. Mayo and her husband George opened the Mayo Women's Health Center. The office has been recognized in both 2008 and 2009 as one of the "Best of San Antonio" in the Physicians & Surgeons category.
Dr. Mayo is a very active medical staff member at he Metropolitan Methodist Hospital where she has served on multiple committees, as department chair, and on the medical staff executive committe. In January 2010 she assumes the position of Chief of Staff.
Dr. Mayo is also active in the community with various organizations at her church. In addition she serves on the Board of Directors for Girls Inc which is a national nonprofit youth organization dedicated to inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold.

The Mayo Women's Health Center is pleased to welcome Lisa Newton, FNP-BC to our staff. Lisa is a Family Nurse Practicioner and has experience in the ICU, trauma, and ER Nursing.
Lisa is here to expedite urgent appointments for our patients care. She can see you for a bladder or vaginal infections, well woman exams, and contraceptive counseling.
As a family nurse practicioner Lisa can also evaluate upper respiratory infections and general health maintenance in patients lacking a primary care provider.

Katherine Aguilar, RDMS
An accomplished health care professional specializing in Diagnostic Ultrasound. Katherine is credentialed by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. She is licensed in OB/GYN, fetal ecohocardiograms and in fetal nuchal translucency. Katherine is a long standing member of the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers which reviews and establishes policies regarding the professional status, legislative activity, and welfare of it's members. Katherine has been recognized by the Stanford's Who's Who in her for the last four years and was named Executive Professional of the year in ultrasound for 2009.

Mayo Women's Health Center Receives 2009 Best of San Antonio Award
For the second consecutive year Mayo Women's Health Center has been selected for the 2009 Best of San Antonio Award in the Physicians & Surgeons category by the U.S. Local Business Association (USLBA).
